Like Ships in a Nebula

INT- Kaal, Tocana Cove Cantina

Verity finds her way into the cantina, and flips some creds over to pay… probably something outstanding as she looks for Kassie.

Kassie disengages herself from looking out the window whose sill she was perched upon when she sees her cohort. As though she’d anticipated Verity, she caught sight of her and made her way with visible haste, or enthusiasm to her, “Hey, hi, good to see you.” Her voice is somewhat low, though also riddled with barely contained happiness, and she holds hands together to stop the impulse to wrap her up in a hug.

Verity is uncharacteristically ebullient for her part, and trots to meet her. She actually hops on her tip-toes thrice as she reaches her and puts her arms around. “I’m sorry, we keep passing like ships in a nebula. I’m so glad to see you, Kassie. How is … everyone?”

Kassie squeezes her friend close, and when she lets go she studies her, about the eyes mostly, her answer is by rote, speaking of an easy truth, “Well, everyone’s well and things are quiet, if you can believe it. The last thing I did of note was clear out all traces of our voracious little visitor. But you, you you! Tell me…!”

Verity shoo shoos her friend to a nearby table. As she sits down, she glares to one side and then the other, giving all servers and handsy patrons the immediate keep-away signal. “I don’t know where to start. I’ve been pretty much in one place all this time. Have you been back to Persephone?”

Kassie trots tableward and when seated scoots and shifts to face her friend full on. She nods, in agreement to something, rather than saying yes to the question, and answers in contrast to her gesture, “Oh, no, I mean, not really, no. I– after I met you there and met that eccentric Hapan, I met up with MaeMae and we followed you all to Persephone. After I realized you were… that you’d been…” She gestures at Verity’s arm, vaguely, acknowleging some imagined bruise or unfriendly hand around it, “I thought you could use back up. Only by the time we had our… hahaha boots on the ground, as it were, Sellovet didn’t need any kind of help we could give anymore. We beat it out of there hastily.”

Verity: “Wretched planet, Trandosha. I feel vindicated to have avoided it all these years. Wouldn’t have gone there at all, had I not been carried off for rapine like a sack of spuds.” She smiles a little. “You and Mae, too, huh? Thanks for sticking up for me.”

Kassie waves off the thanks, and then she lets the quiet between them ride for a moment with a question poised on her face that she doesn’t unleash for a few moments. She eases in, “It was entirely, ENTIRELY, the type of place I hope to avoid. I mean, it makes Ord Mantell… Nar Shaddaa scenic by comparison. I’m sure thats why a healthy dose of Kaal was in order. I feel I just got it out of my pores.” After making such fuss about next-to-nothing, she bites her lip and just looks over, awaiting more of the several chapters since their parting.

Verity gnaws her lower lip for a few moments. And then decides to let it rip. “I … I met someone. A couple months ago. It just never seemed like a good time to bring it up, in front of everyone.” She twists at the end of her ponytail. “I’ve been on Uvena Prime. I stopped there with Pisa. Its … like the OPPOSITE of Tatooine, as far as remote rocks in the black go. Its as green and lush as Zonama Sekot, only colder, I guess. I’m farming.” she nods. “I’m a farmer. I farm.”
Verity adds, “Its the Shistavanen homeworld. You’ve seen them around– enormous wolf-men with bigger chips on their shoulder? There are a couple that run around with the Mandolorian crowd. Lienathan probably interacts more than we do.”

Kassie’s jaw drops at that last. She shakes her head to get the stupefaction off her face. When she gets back her voice, she blurts out all the words at once, no regard to their order or narrative structure, “I’ve been there, once. I met a great big one of them, and mortified my friend by asking a Shista to shake. She said I was lucky he didn’t rip my arm off. But you you— farming? I mean… he’s a farmer? I know slicing is tedious work, but isn’t dragging a rake or hoe or whatever a little–a lot too… I mean… off the grid is one thing. Are you…. are you… reTIRED?” The tone isn’t one of judgmental balking, rather surprise and inability to digest the information with ease.
Kassie tacks on, “…not to raise Pisa, right?”

Image

Verity says, “He is… not currently a farmer. Was, once. On Zonama Sekot. Small Galaxy after all, right?” She laughs a little nervously, and gets the droid to bring them a carafe of water and a pair of glasses. She pours. “And I am not retired, precisely. I’m still at my friends’ beck and calls. I’m just being a little choosy about what I want to get involved with.” She drowns her throughts for a moment. “The grass is so soft there. Its like balm grass, almost. What I have is… well its like a big garden. Enough for me, and maybe some to sell at market. Honestly? I’d forgotten. How simple everything can be.”
Verity: “No, no. Heavens no. He’s vile, even for like a toddler. He’s with some of our friends at the moment. A little thinner, but none the worse for wear.”
Verity makes a face. “He told me, in a Hutt-lisp, that I am not as symmetrical as the golden one.”

Kassie’s gob-smacked reaction gentles as the explanation goes on. By the end she’s smiling at the idyll described. And at the confirmation of Pisa’s transfer outside of their realm of responsibility. Unable to address the other part to start, she laughs and says, “Its you I should be thanking for finding a more suitable situation for him. And anyway… I could hardly fault you for taking time off, you… you’ve been having quite the time, and… you know what? Good for you. I’d forget that time was sometimes for the enjoying if I wasn’t already a dedicated hedonist. Balm grass, huh? Well you aren’t one for obvious sorts of retreats, are you? I mean, I suppose I’d rather a resort and room service for holiday rather than that sort of working vacation…”
Kassie taps her fingertips on the tabletop and adds as if its after-thought, “Now, this someone…?”

Verity raises her glass. “I like my resorts too. In one of my personas or another I’ve been to some very very good ones. Did I tell you about the one I went to on… well, I’ll send you the address. The masseur was amazing. Big hands.” She rests her chin on her arm on the table. “Oh, right, yes. … Theres a little more. Just a little.” Her eyes quest out the window. “I’m going to marry him.”

Verity promptly fills her mouth with water. A big, cheek-bulging mouthful, and sort of hunkers down, waiting for the reaction from mama bear.

Kassie had picked up her glass, washing down the news as it stood already. But again, her friend succeeds in stopping her cold. Glass raised half to her mouth she pauses, holding the pose. Pale grey eyes widen and stare into the reflections in her friend’s meandering gaze. Its a moment before she sets it down and, perhaps out of not now knowing what to do with herself she takes off her gloves, still staring. Her mouth stops being agape and again, she shakes her head, but this time it doesn’t stop shaking. Side to side, slowly but the wide eyes stay fixed. “Marry him? He’s… is he… what? Wealthy? No…. beautiful, is he beautiful? Is… its a cover!” She points a gold finger at Verity, nodding at what she’s proffering must be the only explanation for such behavior.
Kassie: “Its Aurric Geldain, isn’t it? The galaxy’s most eligible bachelor! Am I right?” She mentions this socialite she heard of from some celebrity news rag as a likely fiance.

Verity swallows. And shelters her face from other point moving around in the cantina, as Goldfinger points at her. She even laughs a little, nearly spraying water across the table.

Kassie is impatient, and bounces, as she demands, “Tell me! No time for drinking!” She’s laughing a little too though.

Image

Verity: “I swear, Kastiel. Its kind of… impulsive, I know. But I am being sincere. … And no, he’s not Aurric Geldain. I never entangle myself with beings with more money than taste. He’s beautiful, though, yes. But not pretty. Kind of… chiseled looking. Blonde!”

Kassie can’t help but absorb and assimilate this information hungrily, smilingly. She reaches a hand over to shake her friend’s, then abandons such formality and shows her own will to impulsiveness by springing into another hug. Over Verity’s shoulder she remarks, “I’m happy for you. I am. My gods.”

Verity smiles and hugs Kassie’s shoulder. “Just. One… little… detail. That I haven’t mentioned.”

Kassie retakes her seat and waves her hands in little circles to indicate she’s in a hurry to hear it. She doesn’t even say anything in response, just nods for Verity to go on.

Verity takes a breath and says, “He carries a lightsaber to work. He… Hoggil. His name is Hoggil Torok. Master Torok. He’s one of the Jedi.”

Kassie finally drops her eyes from Verity, for perhaps the very first time since they’ve gotten together tonight. An actress of sorts by trade, she has no trouble continuing to smile, grasping for anything to say. Words don’t very often escape her, especially for so long. When she looks up again to Verity’s eyes her smile dials back to what she can convincingly convey, in an attempt to be the best possible friend to her friend. She makes herself keep her bias against wizards at bay, “Well… I… think… farming is probably a good vocation for a new bride. Um… will there ah… will there be… cake?”

Image

Verity says, “You’re not going to try to talk me out of going back to my … violent little green backwater and having a litter?”

Kassie admits, “I’d like to do that. I really really would but… for what? Selfish reasons? If you… want a litter, if you really want this…” She shakes her head, shrugs a tiny bit, “Then I think you should have it. He’s not…” She pushes fringe out of her face and taps her temple, “…not messing with you or anything?”
Kassie looks at Verity close, intently, as if she might be able to detect any sign of such from observation.

Verity laughs at first. And when Kassie leans to examine her, she puts her elbow down on the table and leans on her fist so that she can see into the oceanic blue of her eyes.and see them just as they have always been. “Not with,” she taps her temple, and says, “I want you to come to Uvena and visit me. And meet him. You don’t have to like him, and I won’t ask you to approve… but I haven’t got any other family but you and the crew of the Leaf. The rest are gone. All dead, or so lost that no matter how I pick and poke and sort and manipulate the date, sort of a miracle, never find.” She says.

Kassie is satisfied and resigns her searching for any change in her friend. She leans over to put a hand momentarily on Verity’s knee. She rests it there a moment on the sea green fabric and manages a smile with nothing brittle about it. She takes her hand back and says, “Verity, oh… Verity, I’m… I’m not your friend. You’re my human sister. And… I would never, never begrudge you happiness. And I am honored that you want me to meet him, I’m happy to. In fact…” Her smile broadens on one side to lop-sided, and she jokes, “I even want to have a photo-op of myself doing something agrarian. See, the people back home will get a kick out of that. And if I send a picture I can avoid taking the long haul back to Kinooine for another few months.”

Verity puts her arms around Kassie’s shoulders and settles her chin in her hair. She says, “Thank you. I know…this is crazy. I know this sounds crazy, and not like me. I just… came from a wedding today. They decided they wanted to be together, and waited… ten years. And if you could see how it is out there. Its like on Nar, and I think every single day, that I don’t know what tomorrow looks like. But I know I WANT these things, and I know that if I’m waiting for certainty to have them, certainty about the right time and being ready might come too late.”

Verity pulls out a holodisk and plays it. The wavery blue image takes shape.

Kassie finally really seems happy enough just to revel in the emotion her usually more staid friend expresses. She takes a look at the image and then past it to Verity again. “I don’t know that I can exactly sympathize with that sentiment. I thought to, once. But…” She doesn’t give herself much time to revisit that memory. “That one looks like a fine specimen, truly. And… roots… well… I don’t know what to say… really. I’ll keep my docket light, and… you’ll tell me when is a good time?”

Verity nods. “I will. I promise, I’ll even wear clothes and everything. Not like last time,” she jokes.

Kassie lays a finger to one side of her nose, and she mingles jesting with gravity, “And you promise me you’ll also ask for help if he gets to be too much to handle? If he abuses you the least bit? If you have too many bushels of produce and not enough credits to pay for… packaging…?” She finishes lamely and laughs a little bit, “I don’t want you out of my radar, even if you are dropping out of the game for honest living.”

Verity laughs. “You’re not losing me. That will never happen, Kassie. And if it puts your mind at any greater ease? He was the one that came and got me on Trandosha.”
Verity: “Don’t worry… after having to keep a thousand lies about my identities straight all this time… its kind of novel to not have to make anything up.”

Kassie: “Actually it does put my mind at ease. And… I hope he knows how fortunate he is… I mean that real you in there is far more priceless than any gem that might make his blade light up from some old cave somewhere. And… isn’t it…. like… I don’t know, uncomfortable telling it to him straight? I mean… I guess it seems like… in a way… harder…”

Verity: “Sometimes it is. When I have to tell him that I think large swathes of their lifestyle are wrong, even destructive. I could tell him I think its wonderful, or just be silent and smile…”

Kassie: “Gods, it really must be love, if you’re willing to broach that– I guess people with different religions, hells, different species can make it work, at least you’re both human, huh? And he… can hear that and is alright? Not too shabby, Verity, actually its sounding more and more like you’re really the one fighting the good fight. Sheesh, you’ll either shame me into finding some arm candy or starting a de-wizarding clinic.”

Verity shakes her head and turns her ponytail around her finger. “Be he’d know I was concealing or lying. And wouldn’t it mean that he has the force of his convictions and I don’t, if I hid or modified what I thought to please him? I put their claim of desire for honesty to the test. … He seems to enjoy arguing with me. Just… we haven’t fought over anything yet. It worries me a little.”

Verity “If we fought and made up, though, I might not be able to move for a day or two. I vote that you get arm candy. A little taller than you, slight, deep voice…. dangerous moves.”

Image

Kassie laughs off the suggestion, giving it even fleeting thought actually causes a pang that makes her eyes momentarily flicker, “You haven’t say… tried picking a fight have you? I suppose it wouldn’t work because they’re so…” She draws a straight line in the air with one finger. “That doesn’t bother you? I mean I suppose what you’ve just said means you don’t have any trouble with getting a rise out of him of the sort you would want…”

Verity shakes her head. Newp. No trouble on that horizon.

Kassie’s comm buzzed, and she looked at it, then making an apologetic face to Verity, “Listen, I really need to grab this, but… don’t go off the world without saying bye. Please don’t.” In one fell swoop she stands, hugs her friend and kisses her head in parting, and is out the door, talking in low tones to the device.

Joining Persephone

INT- Persephone, a ship Verity leads the way up and into from Nar Shaddaa’s docks. When they get onboard, the come upon the Captain, recently awoken, eating breakfast.

Sellovet shovels scrambled eggs into her mouth, “Hi Verity.” Bits of egg spew from her mouth.

Verity leads the way into the cockpit, all sleepy eyes and rumpled. And she’s brought a friend. “Cap’n. Breakfast time, still, I see. May I present my friend,” she says, and gestures behind her. “My very good business associate.”

Kassie follows, looking around casually, and smiles in the captain’s direction, that smile not faltering for a moment despite the other woman’s somewhat unkempt appearance. She makes her way to the captain, holds out a hand to shake, “I’m Kassie, its a pleasure.”

Sellovet studies Verity’s friend for a moment, “Huh. Well, nice to meet you.” Sello grabs hold of the woman’s hand and gives it a firm squeeze. She then fixes a plate of eggs and sausage for both Verity and her companion. “Sit, sit. Have some breakfast.”

Sellovet swallows the last of her scrambled eggs and burps aloud. “Aaah, fuckin’ good.” The Hapan then pats her belly, satisfied.

Verity pulls over a plate. Not shy. She DOES though, glance toward her Kinooinian friend, and says, “Kassie happens to have a few contacts I thought your crew might like to develop. Are you familiar with the Flying Leaf?”

Kassie shakes firm, but not quite as firmly, then takes a seat sliding in by the captain. Tucking hair behind her ears, she beholds the food. “It smells quite delicious, I can’t thank you enough.” She interjects her words after Verity, and embellishes upon it, “I believe that making new friends is almost always a good move…”

Sellovet looks at Tarlaak and grins, “Hey! Get yer ass over here and have some eggs.” The Hapan fixes him a plate and slides it across the table. When Verity asks if she’s familiar with the Flying Leaf, she tilts her head, “I’m afraid I ain’t too acquainted, no. But I’m always lookin’ to make friends and such.” She winks at Kassie. “So tell me a lil’ about yourself. You seem like a fine lady, I wouldn’t mind workin’ with you.”

Tarlaak Trel stepped up the ramp to the ship, giving a mild shrug to himself at the sounds of feminine voices… and a man-belch apparently, He rounded the corner into the main room, giving a nod to the three sitting at the table as he set the duffel bag he had over his shoulder, on the ground. “Pardon me if I’m interrupting girl time, Cap’n” He gave a light chuckle over his vox unit.

Verity nods her head toward the face-shielded man. The slicer says, “You can clearly jump right in the middle of girl time, soldier,” she grins. To Sellovet she says, “You remember how you were telling me you wanted to put some friendly faces in on Naboo… like, spreading out our welcome mat ahead of time? Well, I think Kassie and her crew… might be just what the medic dialed up.”
She jabs a sausage link with her fork to protect her claim, and gets up to allow someone new to sit while she gets a glass of water.

Kassie was steadily chewing a healthy mouthful while watching the ship-mates interact. But when Verity mentioned Naboo, her eyes widened, and her apparent excitement about the idea was, well, apparent. Finishing chewing she waves at the male, then to Sello she answers, “I have always wanted a chance to spend some time on Naboo. Such a beautiful place.”

Sellovet stretches out her slender legs and folds her hands atop her slightly rounded belly, “We often re-fuel on Naboo. It’s a beautiful place, but it ain’t for me. I’m a lil’ too rough to fit in. Verity, on the other hand, is perfect for Naboo.” She smirks some, “So! Let’s talk business. You the Captain of this Flyin’ Leaf?”

Tarlaak Trel gave a nod, popping the seals on his helmet before pulling the thing away, tossing it over on to the duffel bag. He took the seat offered, eying the plate for a moment before beginning to eat.

Kassie shakes her head, “Oh no, I don’t think anyone would want to go along on any vessel I was captain of. But she’s been away for a little while. She has a shipping business when she’s not carting me around, sorry creature that I am.”

Verity mutters something about being perfect for the trusting systems engineers of Naboo, and their naive security measures. But oh, hey, sausage! She bites off the end with a grin and lets everyone get acquainted. Even neatens her rumpled, walk-of-shame appearance meanwhile. “The captain is a woman by the name of Mae’ron. Another good acquaintance. Flies like a mynock out of a crater.”
Verity shrugs. “Chiss.”

Sellovet laughs, “You don’t strike me as a sorry creature.” She then looks at Verity, intrigued. “Flies like a mynock out of a crater, you say? Well, I’m fuckin’ interested. I’d like to be in contact with her as soon as possible.” She takes out her knife and starts playing with it, “What are your skills, Kassie? Maybe there’s a spot for you on our ship.”

Zettabyte’s metallic steps could be heard through the halls of the ship as the droid approached. It stopped, its solo eye scanning for a moment before whirring up a few synthetic noises to notify the organics of its presence. It walked up to the table and just stared… creepily.

Tarlaak Trel remained silent for the time being, taking a brief instant to look up at the droid before going back to his plate, just listening to the others speak

Verity pins her hair up and deposits the fork for collection. With the pile of others. “Oooooh,” she says, distracted by the droid. “Whose is this lovely bit of tech?”

Kassie daintily wipes at the corners of her lips before her smile broadens to a beam, her eyes flicked to the man at her side then back to the captain, “My skills? Well I do have a few, I like to thonk I am good at, well, people. Speaking to them, diplomacy, delivering offers. I have a way with words, and don’t really seem to strike any sort of fear into hearts.” She almost involuntarily looks at the armored man at her side for a moment.

Verity: Also, she can jump, like, six feet when Vong beasts spring out of the jungle at her…

Kassie waves a hand dismissively at Verity remarking, “I was trained as a dancer in school, instinct is all that was.” She tuts a little laugh.

Sellovet looks at Kassie, “A dancer, eh? My older sister was a dancer too.” She grins a bit, “I can always use another salesperson, of course. You’re articulate, attractive, and persuasive. That’s exactly what I need.” She then hands Kassie her datapad, “Here’s the contract. Have a look at it, won’t you?” She helps herself to another serving of eggs.

Tarlaak Trel finished the eggs and such on his plate, setting the fork down before pulling a cigarra from a pouch on his belt. Pulling a petrol lighter from another pouch before lighting the thing up, still just listening.

Zettabyte turned to Verity “I am a Model-88 Mk. II Accounting and Administration droid, currently assisting the Persephone crew. With Accounting and Administration.” He said, turned toward the woman who asked. His flamethrower slung neatly over his right shoulder suggested that he dealt with a different kind of accounting.

Kassie, still grinning responds, “I ended my dancing career as such, I wasn’t meant for the stage.” That said, she takes the datapad and looks at it engrossing herself in the text, one toe idly tapping the floor as she reads.

Sellovet smirks as she watches Verity and the administrative droid interact, “I think Verity’s in love…” She whistles softly. While Kassie reads through the contract, she looks at Tarlaak and says, “Yo. Hand me that lighter, won’t you?”

Verity grins. “Captain Sello knows what she can use in short order. How I do like to work for people who know what they want.” To Zettabyte, she looks consideringly, though likely thinking more of collateral damage than capital gains. “A pleasure, 88. Yes, you do look like you… crunch numbers.”

Tarlaak Trel gave a nod, closing the thing before tossing it over to her, idly dragging on his own

Tucker enters the ship with a jacket draped over his shoulder, a small bag strapped to his bag,and his jaw almost to the floor. “Whoa. Am I interrupting something?” he says, eyes to the ceiling as he notes that there was clearly some kind of meeting, and the captain wasn’t wearing pants. He clearly looks like he was about to move in to the ship, and now he looks like he’s about to move out.

Verity shoots over with a grin. “High stakes Sabaac. You want dealt in next?”

Sellovet snatches Tarlaak’s lighter and uses it to ignite the end of her hand-rolled cigara, “Thanks, babe.” She tosses him his lighter and turns around, eyeing Tucker. “Huh? No, not at all. I made breakfast for everyone. Sit yer ass down and have some eggs.” Sello doesn’t seem bothered by the fact that she isn’t wearing any pants. In fact, she looks like she just woke up.

Kassie finishes reading and glances up and around. She waves at the purple haired man, hoping he takes a seat instead of the creepy orange bot. “I think this looks in order, and would love a chance to…. travel with you all for a time.”

Tarlaak Trel caught the lighter, throwing it back in his belt pouch. “Happy to oblige ya, ma’am.” he proceeds the lean back in the little nook, enjoying his cigarra.

Verity is into creepy tech. Speaking up, she says, “About this mess with Trandosha…”

Zettabyte had processed enough organic interaction for the day, and he turned and took two cold robotic steps to the right. “I suspect an increase in crew size. Does this ship have the proper life support systems to sustain all the necessary quantities of bio-waste, oxygen, and energy needed for consumption?”

Sellovet looks at 88, “88, mind settin’ Kassie up with some false documents and the like? Perhaps you can set up a temporary contract for her?” When 88 asks her if the ship is well-equipped for a crew of ten or more, she snorts, “Uh… duh. Of course it is, 88! Feel free to double check everythin’ though. Might as well make sure everythin’ is in tiptop shape and workin’ order.” Her silver eyes then dart over to Verity, “Ah, yes. Tonight we’re goin’ to rescue my sister, Sovi. She’s on Trandosha, the Death Watch have her captive. It’s a risky mission, personal too. But if all of you would like to be involved, I sure could use the extra manpower.”

Tucker shrugged. Any breakfast that he didn’t have to steal sounded good. He walked between Sellovet and the odd droid, giving both as wide a berth as possible, and slid into a seat at the table. “You cook? I don’t know that I’d have guessed that.” He smiled quickly to Kassie, whom he assumed was also signing on to to the crew.

Sellovet looks at Tucker, “You’re damn right I cook, Slim. Didn’t think I would be domestic, did you?”

Verity says, “Don’t fret your little capacitors. Some of us are very very much ground-based…”

Kassie puts the datapad on the bench and uses one golden hand to massage the knuckles of the other. Given the chance to study her company she did precisely that.

Tucker grins to the Captain. “No, believe it or not. You don’t exactly give off the homey, shipwife vibe.” He slathered a heaping portion of eggs onto his plate and dug in. Though he very clearly wasn’t used to eating in company (rather from a dumpster), he did his best to be polite, wiping his mouth with his sleeve often so that his face wouldn’t be too messy. “Mm. Not half bad. Thanks, Princess.”

Verity offers, “I’m going to load the area layout, where we were into the ship. After the working over I got down there… it would be MY PLEASURE.” Darkly, Verity bends over a console, and explains to Kassie, “Mandolorian extremists came and dragged me off my homestead. Like to hit women with rifle butts, and suggest questionable methods for keeping them gagged.”

Tarlaak Trel ashed his cigarra on to his own empty plate, quirking a brow at the purple haired testosterone deficiency patient, “Princess? Don’t you see some irony in that statement, boy?”

Zettabyte’s synthetic voice whirred once more. “Clarification requested: False documents to what extent? Shall there be a new name?” he looked back at Verity “My capacitors are not under strain, they can handle concurrently one zettabyte across all processes. Loading my vocal protocol only requires 11.23 megabytes in the form that I just did.” if he had glasses, he would push them up the bridge of his nose arrogantly.

Tucker glanced up to Tarlaak. “Oh, I’m sorry. Always been fluent in sarcasm.” He grinned pleasantly as he glanced over the other’s armor. “Is there a translator in there? Flick it on. That might help.” He went back to eating his eggs.

Sellovet laughs at Tucker, “I’m going to shoot you in the foot one of these days, Slim.” She then walks over to Verity, “Good, good. We’ll have to go in nice and quiet.” She then looks over her shoulder at 88, “False names aren’t necessary, no. But if Kassie wants one, she’s more than welcome to have it. Oh and set up Tucker with some false documents as well. They’re gonna need a lot of fake permits and such.”

Kassie taps the armored man beside her upon his shoulderplate, brows and smile drawing back having heard Verity’s words. “Excuse me sir, can I get past for a moment, I hate to disturb you.”

Verity draws out her own data device, and lazily skitters her fingertips across the surface of the panel. She looks wryly amused. “I am pleased to hear it. For just a second there, I thought you might have taken on a little programming corruption, that the protocol droid has been complaining of.”

Tarlaak Trel laughs, “There ain’t no translation for stupid, try a different dialect? think this thing has a setting for alabaster retard.” Kid was funny, He would give him that.

Tucker glances up again. “There is. You just can’t see it. Might want to take your shades off, Slick, and you’d be able to see it. Might also see the womp rat- it’s just hanging there. Clinging to your chin.” The man had laughed, so he figured he could get away with it. He had grown up trading banter with the spacers in the cantinas and, thankfully, found him amusing enough to put up with. And sometimes slip him a drink.

Sellovet laughs at Tarlaak and Tucker, “You two should run a god damned holo-show.” The Hapan then walks over to Tarlaak and drops a hand on his shoulder plate, “I think I’mma call you Slick.” She smirks, “Slick and Slim. It has a nice ring to it, don’t it?”

Zettabyte whirred a moment before looking at the purple haired organic, and the golden skinned organic female. “If I might digress this casual confrontation, shall you have any specifications for your false identities I request that you, as you organics say… “speak up.” otherwise I will randomize the data.”
Verity says, “You’re going to want more than stealth. Assuming they’ve patched the hole that Hoggil cut in the ceiling — just crawl over someone’s lap, Kassie. We’re all friendly-like here.”

Tarlaak Trel turned to Sell with a slight smile, “Call me Slick and my weapon may just accidentally discharge. You know how crazy these older models are.”
Kassie reaches for the datapad she’d benched, to bring it along, after giving it a glance she tucks it under one arm, then taps Trel’s armored arm again, “Begging your pardon, please, might I get past–” Heeding Verity, she just pats the man’s thigh and launches herself out past him.

Tucker spins around to face the droid, scooting over so that Kassie could get out. “Tucker should work fine, as I made it up. Born here to nobodies, as far as I know. Not in any systems, never been caught or charged for anything.” He shrugged. “Though, I mean, if we’re doing this, we might as well do it right. Give me some ridiculous name. Like Thunder. Or Snooty McWeenisbopper.”

Verity: Can’t be worse than calling Ryder ‘pretty boy’.

Zettabyte turned to the male. “Alright, ”

Sellovet pats Tarlaak’s shoulder, “Just remember what I’m payin’ you for.” She then steps back and looks down at herself. Huh, where did her pants go? “I suppose I should go put on somethin’ more suitable.”

Kassie can’t help the impulse to put a hand on her friend’s shoulder, once she’s up and about, offering belated comfort. To say things she can’t presently use words for. But then she ambles back over to the creepy droid, and tosses to Sello: “Captain, you’re looking fetching.” Then to Zettabyte, “…and I’ll pass on the ostentatious names, myself. If you’re including me in your calculations.”

Tarlaak Trel smiles, “Ain’t no amount of money worth your self respect. Calling Me Tarlaak or ‘Tar’ for short will be more than suitable. None of those silly nicknames.”

Verity pats her friends’ hand in passing, and posits to Sello, “I think we could make more credits if you don’t … Cheeky.”

Zettabyte turned to the male. “Alright, “Phill McGroin” you are born on an outer rim planet in the Orus system to a mother who cross dressed as a two-legged bantha. Your mother sold you to a Hutt slaver in order to pay for her Bantha Fodder. Your father was a droid who specialized in being unspecialized. You’ve never met him because he was sold away to a man who used him as a bed-side table. Does this suit your quality?”

Tucker looks to Sellovet, knowing the more Tarlaak refused, the more likely she was to call him Slick. He himself had come to terms with the name Slim at this point. He listened to the droid intently, as if this life story was indeed his, and of the utmost importance. “Hell yes. That is perfect. Save for one detail. She was, obviously, a one-legged bantha. You respect my mother’s injury. She lost that leg in the Jawa Revolutions.”

Sellovet sticks another cigara between her lips and nods, “Mmk. On that note, I’m goin’ to change.”

Verity bursts out laughing from her console.

Kassie is grinning too, the crew-banter’s hilarity getting the best of her.

Sellovet just shakes her head, “And now Verity has lost it. Fuck. We’re in trouble now.” She’s even smiling too.

Kassie adds, “Oh yes, when that one’s laughing, you should be on the lookout for catastrophe.”

Verity wipes the corners of her eyes with her fingers, and says, “It doesn’t count– I stayed up late. I’m not myself.”

Sellovet laughs a bit as she heads off to her cabin.

Zettabyte whirred once more before turning toward the golden hued woman. “Saving and compiling.” he looked a moment at Kassie and then repeated. “Saving.” this time with a longer pause. “And compiling.” he just stared at Kassie with that large round solo eye, unblinking. “Your false documents are being created. It will take 2-4 corporation days in order to process the information and make it appear authentic.

Tucker shivels a few more forkfuls of egg into his mouth, chewing in thought as the others chuckled. “So…seriously. What’s the plan, tonight. I’m still wondering why I’m of any help to your crew, though certainly I’m not complaining at the prospect of getting paid. I mean, I suppose I could take up my mother’s profession and try to bantha-dance my way into the hearts of the Death Watch, but-”

Kassie stared back, grin fixing into a brittle version of itself. She’s trying to deal inscrutable back to the inscrutable eye, brow going knit.

Tarlaak Trel shrugged, “I don’t know you folks too well, if at all, so I just gotta ask… How many of you all are trained soldiers? The Deathwatch isn’t some group of Hutt thugs or something like that. They are all trained warriors and love what they do.”

Verity eyes the droid. “TWO DAYS? Get outta here, TWO? So they can be related to an ottoman?” She says to the others, “You aren’t just whistling an air. And they know you’re coming.”

Zettabyte just stared at Kassandra. The droid’s actions didn’t seem to be comprehensible. Perhaps he just enjoyed putting a scare into the organics.

Kassie silently thanks Verity for her remark, and it emboldens her stare, she jokes with the still staring droid, “The great galactic novel wasn’t written in two days. I don’t think…”

Tucker shook his head to Tarlaak. “I just carry a blaster to scare people,” he chuckles. “I’m here cause the Captain thought perhaps my, how did she put it? Silver tongue could be useful. I practice when I bored, so I’m a pretty good shot, but the used beer bottles I practice with sure as shit don’t shoot back.”

Zettabyte took a step back and turned toward Tarlaak, the girl had won this round…. “According to my highly advanced calculations…” it paused a moment. “In order to raise our chances of success in the upcoming combat, there needs to training.”

Verity says, “Training, no training, you go after them in their little nest, you’re going to be the galaxy’s greatest pasta strainer. You need to figure out a way to get them to come out on your terms. I wonder if you could slip them a little glitterstim venom…”

Kassie pumped a fist in triumph when the droid turned around. Then she ambled off toward the table with the gents again, taking her winning energy with her, “I for one am not much of the gun-wielding sort. But it looks like you have arms enough for both of us, no?” She smiles at Tarlaak.

Kassie backs away from the table and the people still abroad in the ship, offers a wave around the room, then does a little bow by way of parting gesture. She gives Verity a look, a wink, then announces, “I have a few sundries that need sundering. I look forward to working with you all, and making piles of credits if not having a grand time doing so.” That said she spins on her heel and makes for the hatch.

Conference Kaal

INT- Tea House, Tocana Cove, Kaal, Mid Rim

Lienathan turns a helmeted face up as Verity approaches.

Verity announces, “The kid is gorging itself on garden slugs. Can’t get enough. Does anyone else enjoy the irony of this? Straw-boy?”

Lienathan: Well, Hutts will pretty much eat anything.

Kassie stands looking out the all but empty tea house window, with her lips screwed tight in thought. She’s tapping a foot, not impatiently so much as anxiously. She has a little roll of printed pages that she tap tap taps against with one gloved hand against the palm of the other.

Verity fingertaps his face shield as she tromps on by, swooping to plant a loud kiss on their other compatriot’s cheek. “Your turn with him. All slimed up and ready to go, beautiful,” she jokes, angling for the sliding door. “Kassie!”

Kassie turns and smiles despite her anxiety. “Verity. Glad to see you, of course, Nice to see you for once without our guest.” She shakes her head a bit and looks to the door. “Any sign of Mae out there?”

Nathaniel Flores steps in as Kassie speaks. He glances back out side with a shrug.

Verity is in a relatively good mood. “Probably mopping her heap of parts out again. — Tell me we are offloading the kid, soon. Only good news, today.”

Kassie somewhat fretfully tosses the little curled sheaf of papers onto the table. And fixes a look on Verity. Its wilted at first but she forces herself to smile, while she’s shrugging, “I wish I could say we were. I wish I could say I had much of that. I guess the good news is: here’s Mae.”

Mae’ron Illvarion walks in, hands shoved deep inside her pockets, eyes lowered as she mentally went over her checklist from earlier that day. She lifted her head as she approached, her eyes moving from one figure to the next in recognition and greeting.

Lienathan glances over as the Chiss passes by, giving an amiable nod.

Verity turns to look past Lienathan’s inscrutable face-barrier to Mae’ron’s entrance. “Kassie isn’t telling me what I want to hear again,” she says with a sigh. “Alright, what, then is the LEAST bad news?”

Kassie waves at the Chiss to come on over, and at the be-visored one too, should he feel so inclined. “You got here just in time for the bad news: my source is still dark with the Jiramma. I have no idea what to do with–” She gestures at the window. “–the least bad news is he’s going to slowly eat me into poverty, once he runs out of garden pests. I’ve probably got a few months before that happens.”

Lienathan wanders a little closer and semi-leans against the wall, listening.

Verity, Lienathan, Mae'ron, Kassie

Mae’ron Illvarion crosses her arms in front of her as she stands behind one of the wicker chairs. Her fingers rap against her elbows and nods softly. “We won’t be in possession of him that long. There has to be some way to offload him, and make something off it.” She looked over at Verity and cocked an eyebrow. “Thoughts?”

Verity lounges. She has a tendency, when at rest, for her digits to tick and flutter, as though they’d rather be doing the talking and walking for her. Restless fingers. She observes, reaching fer the constantly remodded device in her jacket, saying “They *are* Hutts. It was a long shot that they’d just volunteer to take him. By now then, they know… courtesy of the snooping party from Zonama Sekot, that he’s floating around. Likely Braga has an estate. Our little wormy friend is a loose end.”
Verity: “However.”

Kassie takes a seat whilst listening to the human go on, face tightening in obvious thought. After a moment, she murmurs, “It really didn’t occur to me that his own family might turn on him. I only considered that they’d be overjoyed to have him back safe and sound to put into some pouch or another… ”

Verity wrinkles her nose.

Lienathan huffs. “Backbiting slugs.”

Mae’ron Illvarion takes a breath and exhales. “Not all species have a fondness for offspring, or raising them. Some of us only need minimal parenting as it were. Hutt are disgusting, but they aren’t abnormal in they way they choose to procreate.”

Verity: I’d think twice about it, if it would take me 50 years just to get it to behave like a preteen. They ARE Slug,” she nods toward Lienathan, but then goes on, “Jealous, greedy, egotistical slugs. Slugs who like to make violent points to each other. The Jiramma aren’t biting? Fine. There are other Hutt syndicates, who I am sure would like to pull something over on them. Maybe the Desilijics, or the Besadii Kajidics.”

Kassie looks at Mae, sadness momentarily pervading her eyes, but just the eyes and just for a moment. When Verity speaks again she looks at the human instead and nods at the suggestions. “I frankly don’t know any hutts at the moment, or sort of, which ones are likely to provide the highest yield and least… offence of scruples. I can see if I know a guy who knows a guy or if anyone does… otherwise I see myself coming to a point before bankruptcy where baskets and monasteries are in order. Its the kind of headache they are used to dealing with, right? Monks and abandoned children?”

Mae’ron Illvarion smirks. “I’d question my faith if that showed up on my doorstep.”

Verity: Worst case scenario, we can ditch him back where we found him. The people of the horrid jam seemed very concerned for his mucousy welfare.

Lienathan adjusts his helmet slightly. “Well, that’s something, I suppose.”

Kassie takes her turn to wrinkle her nose, “And, bad jam or no, those people were nice enough, giving with their produce. And I bet that little girl would think we were doing her a favor if we did, that’s one way to come out heroes… mucus-free heroes at that. You’d really think soaking him in a fragranced pool would have really you know…” she shakes her head, stopping the tangent she was about to go off on in its tracks. Then she points to the papers, which are printed versions of news stories. “There’s worse news. Though I suppose it depends on your definition of worse.”

Lienathan lets his eyes follow to the papers.

Verity doesn’t reach for them. “Whats worse than broke?”

Mae’ron Illvarion lifts her chin and looks over to her golden counterpart

Kassie lets it spill out, the anxiety keeping her speech at a quick clip, “I looked into this other job offer that I’d been chattering about. It was from this… this guy. Sounded pretty simple, so I said I’d look into it. That was back when I thought Braga was going to be an easy find. I mean how hard is it to find a hutt? Annnyway, some Chiss from the Kingdom of…” she pinches her nose at the bridge, trying to summon the name, but it doesn’t come, so she flings her speech onward, “somethingorother. Find a crystal he says. Vexus crystal. All he wanted to know was where it was. Turns out the one who last had it– where he said to start looking–” She points at the papers, “Jedi Master. She’s all over the news, Luv Monsoo.”

Verity: Just… keep coming back to them, don’t we.

Kassie shakes her head perhaps eight times, because she’s that thrilled about the notion. “And on Tython, no less? Isn’t that where the whole religion started? I blame you, honestly.” She looks at Verity nodding instead of shaking her head. “You just had to talk about spectral goosings.”

Mae’ron Illvarion narrows her eyes at the papers and tries to recall any communications she’d had with others in the Mid Rim or just beyond, especially with one of her own kind. She didn’t particularly dislike dealing withthe, but it was always a battle of wits, you had to be your best around them. She considered the papers for a moment and the thoughts of a Jedi Master. “I don’t know, but if she was last in possession of the thing, you’d think your Mystery Chiss would have this knowledge as well. He surely would have questioned her, so us following suit may either push our welcome in her presence, or she’ll feed us a practiced line – do we have any other leads?”

Kassie reverts to shaking her head again, eyes narrowing to slits, second set of eyelids momentarily visible. She’s wracking her brain, again, but she ultimately shakes her head. “Not a single one. I don’t even know what this thing is. I’m sure it speaks to my own… limitations that I imagined it was some sort of precious gem, valuable for its karatage and destiny as a large cabochon. But if there’s Jedi involved? They’re not much the jewelry types. Even if it would make a wicked brooch for the dreary robes and things.”

Verity meanwhile puts her hands up in wordless defense, and tucks away her device. “Only sort of crystal that comes off Tython the order guards like this one,” she jerks a thumb toward Lienathan, “-guards his secret identity.”

Lienathan: Yeah… not exactly what they want crystals for.

Mae’ron Illvarion snorts a laugh and shakes her head as well. “Well I do think that we should pay Tython a visit then. Last time I checked I didn’t have any direct threats there. ” She looked around at each of them in turn.

Lienathan just shrugs.

Kassie looks after Verity’s device when its being tucked away, “I thought you might you know–” she wiggles her fingers in the air as if typing away, “Look a little deeper into it than I can go. You are sort of you know, better at the detail recon than I am.” She concludes with a sheepish grin.

Verity: Mae, if you’ll just put me off in a cursory way, I’ll give your transponder a new code when we come back through. If we come back through.
Verity: It will be as though we never visited at all.

Mae’ron Illvarion nods and waves her hand. “You know that I trust that your enhancements to the Leaf are legitimate.”

Verity waggles her hand in the air teasingly. “-Ish.”

Mae’ron Illvarion lifts a finger and pauses to form her thoughts, then speaks. “If you would also take a look at the new astromech, I think that it will need some adjustments. If nothing else, zap it a few times to show him who’s in charge?”

Lienathan chuckles.

Kassie smiles at the exchange between human and Chiss, then reaches over to the little wicker table and snatches up the little sheaf of print-outs. Then she stands, apparently buoyed by the lack of concern her friends have displayed. She murmurs to herself, “If I’d known this was how this was going to play out I would have packed before I came. I haven’t so much as checked the weather. I don’t know if I have enough beige for visiting that kind of place.”

Verity snorts. “Pack lightly, don’t carry a weapon. No one looks twice if you’re arm candy. Please excuse me– I have apparently, a droid to finesse?”

Mae’ron Illvarion holds up her hands in defense, “I thought you’d want a crack at it. ” She looks at the doorway. “I’ll need to do a few checks before we leave anyhow.”

Verity: Just a girl and her ship. Its adorable.

Kassie: “I’ll see if I have any friends on Tython, if not I’ll be sure to make one while we’re there. An unwise man once told me that you should have one friend on every world you go to.” She follows along, after her departing cohorts, chattering still, like a balloon letting out air, tension working at dissolving: “I think that’s sound advice…”

(A break from) Adventures in Huttletsitting

INT- Nar Shaddaa, Black Hole Casino

Kassie didn’t consider herself much of a risk-taker. Sure she’d come to watch the Hutts hold court even as one of their own young was quartered on her friend’s ship on the very moon, but she’d hoped her contact would find a way onto the moon. As a lifelong dedicated keeper of a low profile, she wasn’t much worried about anyone recognizing her. Even if she met people everywhere she went because she was too talkative not to, she didn’t worry about being recognized. The galaxy was full of people of all shapes and sizes, most of them far more interesting and dangerous and wealthy than she, so Kassie could still enjoy herself. The Brotherhood thrived on that fringe of the fringe, so her varied acquaintances showed tonight as ever. They’d been dispersed in the crowd from the start of Hutt Night, but as things escalated they’d somehow distilled themselves closer together.

Kaelinn ‘Baby Girl’ X: the Leviathan Consortium are troubled by the way the Metus Imperia issue has been handled.

Dhaval Darkrose: would chuckle as he said,”Darmutta….you know what I hate more than arrogance….”He’d reach up slowly unsheathing his vibro blade as the loud hum filled the room. “Ignorance…..”he’d grin as he stood firm, “why dont you step down the only way a hutt should….”

Kaelinn ‘Baby Girl’ X: Their crimes are acts of terrorism against teh galaxy as a whole, as they use violence to try to oppress and convert

Sheylira raises an eyebrow

Darth Mavros looks over at Dhaval and sighs, “Please dear, wait a moment, it is rude to interrupt someone when they are speaking…”

Kaelinn ‘Baby Girl’ X: Just last week they gassed this very public meeting hall, putting civilians, dipolomats and officials from all over the galaxy at risk

Darth Mavros snickers…

Kassie strolls in, strolls up casually, to her associate she gives a tiny grin upon approach.

Verity steps back to whisper to her, insistently, gesturing toward the action on the dais.

Kaelinn ‘Baby Girl’ X: No more, the LC will not tolerate these acts of barbarism.. we will hunt down their leaders and bring them to trail… before we hang them
Kaelinn ‘Baby Girl’ X: maybe about the trail part

Sheylira (sheylira.sabetha) looks down to her right at the small droid, wishing it had a drink on its serving tray

Dhaval Darkrose: would walk towards the stage approaching darmutta since veryone else was seeming to ignore him as he riased his blade to darmutta

Kaelinn ‘Baby Girl’ X: as for teh trippled reward? I suggest you keep it and use it for tighter security
Kaelinn ‘Baby Girl’ X: thank you for your time

Katti’alya Meli’nya looks over to Jay “What trail are they speaking of? I didn’t know Narshaddaa had hiking trails…”

Jay Caelan Merryl: *He nudges Katti and motions to the droids that had stepped into the crowd. In his experience as chief of security, unattended droids were always bad news.* Metus Imperia, I haven’t kept up with it. Rakghouls have kept me busy.

Mae’ron Illvarion turns and takes a step back, extending her hand towards her golden friend, to take her forearm into her palm and offers her own in turn. “I see you’ve found replacement footgear.”

Katti’alya Meli’nya nods, her eyes glancing to the two holodroids. Slitting her eyes as she lies a palm over her lightsaber.

Kassie looks over, stare staying in that direction, brow going knit. She whispers back. Then she takes her arm reaches out to brace Mae’ron’s in greeting, not looking at her blue friend yet.

Sheylira nudges Xansheene and says softly in her ear “is someone going to sto that man or will he actaully spill Hutt blood tonight?”

Darth Mavros rubs her eyes, “He couldn’t wait for us to finish, so rude of him…”

Xansheene merely shrugs before replying “makes no difference to me”

garron Firecaster: im watching you two don’t pull anything

Katti’alya Meli’nya: Wait. Is that guy attacking the big hutt?
Katti’alya Meli’nya looks to jay

Dark Lord Vyrassu reaches down and unhinges his lightsaber and holds it out to the side waiting to ignite it for any hostile action

Jay Caelan Merryl: *He just shakes his head at the actions the Mandalorian made.* It’s the effect of their actions. Someone is so bold as to attack the hutts on stage. Not my problem anymore…

Consortium Alliance Warlord Reezo Zhel begins to pull out a blade and twirl it gently eyeing it lightly with a blood thirsty grin. “No now boy….Someone might get hurt. Put that thing down. You wouldn’t want to make a mess of things in front of everyone here, would you?”

Kassie gives Mae a brief nod in further greeting, and then turns her eyes to the front again.

Darth Mavros just paces around while rubbing her eyes, sighing and shaking her head, “Why do we let fools live? Please tell me…?”

Dark Lord Vyrassu ignites his lightsaber and walks to Dhaval and points his lightsaber at him. “Put it down or the Jen’ari will make you an en example of why NOT to attack Hutts

Kaelinn ‘Baby Girl’ X shrugs and walks off to get a drink
Kaelinn ‘Baby Girl’ X: “Hutts and their internal bickerings..”

Zach Rodchester looks at the tense situation and smirks it was time to use one of his trademark catch phrases “Howdy im looking for a hugh jass”

Katti’alya Meli’nya: What the kriff is a hugh jass?

Kassie wrinkles her nose at something Verity says.

Jay Caelan Merryl: I think that’s like… a holovid actor… Hugh Jass…

Xansheene moves to stand behind Vyrassu as she places a hand on her sabers

Zach Rodchester: lets get this party started *zach would pull his scatter shot and open fire trying to hit the sith in the back*

Darth Mavros “It is people like that guy who ruin everything…”

Mae’ron Illvarion turns her attention back forwards and purses her lips, leaving Verity and Kassie to consort in hushed tones.

Teegan Hancroft feels someone close to her. She turns and gives a slight nod.

Jay Caelan Merryl: *Grabs hold of the back of Katti’s head, and yanks her down as the man behind them starts to shoot. He didn’t want either of them getting their heads blown off.* Perfect time for the kriff to hit the fan…

Katti’alya Meli’nya (katti.meili) gives a grunt as she feels her head pulled down “Hey!” she cried. Grumbleing “Don’t kriffing yank my head! I was in a kriffing explosion last night!” she groans with pain.
Darth Mavros sighs and pinches her brow, “The more people get involved the more chaotic it gets. Everyone does not need to RUSH THE KRIFF UP THERE to protect one guy from a dude with a KRIFFING VIBROBLADE! It is a VIBROBLADE, it isn’t like it is a saber! Jesus! So many people getting involved will just make SHIT worse!!!”

Consortium Alliance Warlord Reezo Zhel walks up calmly seeing the fighting and spoke louder. “Perhaps this one has a hearing problem. Or a competence level of a Kowakian Monkey Lizard…Either way It’s been too long.” He charges up in a full sprint now for the rest of the way attempting to level the vibrosword at the Hutt’s attacker.

Jay Caelan Merryl: Yeah well, pay attention next time, the guy behind us was firing… *He said, keeping his head down until the man had passed and moved towards the stage.* It looks like the perfect storm tonight. Let’s not get caught up in the hutt’s affairs, or no one will be on guard.

Magosa: As the Darkrose’s weapon aims for the Hutt Gut, the force fields around the Hutt daises activate and shimmer between Darmutta and Dhaval…

Darth Mavros just walks away, “Jengaz go to the back I’ll go with you..”

Kassie mutters as she stares at the ensuing chaos, “Time to go.” Then turns on her heel to make for the door.

Verity reaches out a hand and catches at the drape of the woman in brown passing by. ‘This way.”

Teegan Hancroft follows.

Lienathan Khamar would smirk behind the mask if it were visible. “It is”

Verity: Oh, yeah…

And once they’re outside, clear and to one side of the Black Hole doors…

Teegan Hancroft looks behind her and then to the woman. She just nods. Her adrenaline is pumping a bit.

Mae’ron Illvarion finally exits from the casino and makes her way over towards the small group.

Kassie looks somewhat more disgusted than concerned when she announces, “We can go to the Blue Cantina, somewhat more class and less shooting I’ve found.”

Mae’ron Illvarion nods. “Place stank worse than my cargo hold anyhow.”

Lienathan Khamar: And that’s saying something

Verity waits for everyone to reform, and says, “Nothing stinks worse than your cargo hold.”

Kassie rolls her eyes and turns to face Mae, “He can’t help it, he’s just a baby! And only a feeew more days.”

Teegan Hancroft looks to the small group and simply listens. She seems to be catching her breath and regaining her composure.

Verity: Any word from you friends in … low places?

Mae’ron Illvarion seems to frown, but then she always seemed to do that. “Babies and Hutts are not things i want on my ship ever again, and certainly not in that combination.” She looked towards Kass.

Kassie rubs her eyes with her fingertips as if she’s conjuring the information by massaging her eyelids. “Only more of the same. That the meet is forthcoming, and to keep him in good shape. Maybe your friend over there,” she gestures at the religious woman, “could offer him her frontal assets for a while.” Big, huge grin.

Lienathan Khamar tilts his head slightly.

Verity pulls out her data unit and begins punching some things in, seemingly at random. “What are the odds, though, Mae? About the same that he,” she points to Lienathan, “-takes that face shield off to sleep.” With a glance toward Teegan, she says to Kassie, “He’s picky. And as long as its not me…”

Kassie rushes to say, griningly, and light despite all the hubbub they’ve escaped, “Well I know Mae’s answer already. And I’m sorry I never learned Huttese yet. I’ve been studying, kind of.”

Teegan Hancroft brushes at her skirts and straightens her sash. She lifts her hand in some sort of salutation or acknowledgment. She gives a nod and takes a few steps towards the walkway. She looks in all directions as if trying to decide which way to go.

Kassie patters after the sashed sight, and taps her shoulder. With a friendly smile, and as if she hadn’t just been objectively talking about her right out loud, she offers, “Are you looking for the way up and out? We’re headed what way too.”

Mae’ron Illvarion follows behind, keeping silent. She’d already used every curse she knew in every language she knew at the droid aboard the Leaf that seemed to not understand what it meant to “clean up” after a small Hutt. She refused to go near the lower section of the ship herself.

Teegan Hancroft turns with a bit of a start. She forces herself to settle into a smile and nods. She just says: “Yes. Thank you.” She looks willing to follow.

Lienathan Khamar adjusts the blasters at his hips and sets off after the rest.

Kassie hooked up arms with the woman and lead the way up and out into the freer air. Without pausing she kept along on her way to her intended destination, though Verity had parted ways somewhere in the labyrinth of the upper or midlevels.
Kassie strolled directly past the giant golden hutt, and into the doors of the establishment.
Kassie unhands the human only when they’re at the bar. “So, what’s your poison? Drinks are on me, I caused the whole stinking mess. And my only caveat is that I don’t pay for straws.”

Lienathan Khamarreaches into his vest, producing a drinking straw. “Brought my own”

Teegan Hancroft takes a seat. She says quietly: “Water.”

Kassie (kassandra.caproni) points finger blasters at him, “Aways prepared, thats why I like you.” And she turns to Mae, with those same guns, “and you,” then finally to the human with the sash, “but you…” She narrows her eyes consideringly then just grins.

Teegan Hancroft looks to the woman: “I am Daughter of Allya. Teegan.”

Kassie turns to the droid blowing off her gun fingers. “Muddled agrecola for me. I bet she’d like one too. And Water” She gives Teegan a conspiratorial nod, “I’m a daughter too, its daughter approved. Teegan, Kassie.” She takes a step back so as not to obscure the line of sight between her testy Chiss pal and the human, but focuses on the human, friendly, and placing a hand on her chest for emphasis..

Mae’ron Illvarion says simply “Ithorian Mist.” She waits for the bartender droid to fill the orders.

Lienathan Khamar places an order for something stout he can drink with a straw.

Kassie takes her drink when it comes, and asks generally, “Did anybody have any idea what that shooting was about? I couldn’t make any sense of why or what or even who…”

Teegan Hancroft shakes her head. She is very quiet.

Lienathan Khamar: Somebody was hacked off at one of the Hutts… had a vibroblade, tried to take a poke, started a big fight.

Kassie: “Really? A vibroblade though? I mean… in what way doesn’t a blaster make more sense? Or a…” She makes a gesture with her non-drink bearing hand of holding a small round something, holds it up ot her teeth to pull out the pin or push a button and tosses as if over the bar the airy representation of the thing whose name she can’t remember.

Lienathan Khamar: Thermal detonator?

Kassie: That’s the one. I mean if they aren’t digestible, they probably aren’t too stabbable either… teeth are just blunt little mostly non-vibro knives when it comes to it.
Kassie holds up her drink as if to congratulate herself on making her point and drinks past the leaves, a nice long pull.

Mae’ron Illvarion takes a sip of her drink and winces. “This is…a poor quality Mist…” She looks over at the one named Teegan. “Why anyone would want to get close enough to them in the first place is beyond me.”

Lienathan Khamar shrugs a bit. He drops the straw into his drink and maneuvers it under the faceplate, taking a sip.

Teegan Hancroft puts her drink back on the bar. She nods quietly: “Please excuse me.”

Kassie watches the woman go, then takes up her space, as its prime realty between her two associates. “They’re so wealthy Mae. The wealthiest, really. Its a worthwhile business.”

Lienathan Khamar spins the drink in his hand slightly, listening

Mae’ron Illvarion: The sort of wealth they obtain is as greasy as they are. It’s not received through hard work. Worth is measured differently for each of us, but frankly I’d not trade for that position for all the ill-gotten credits in the galaxy.

Kassie wrinkles her face a little bit at the parable of a response. After thinking it through for a moment she responds, “I’m so happy that for the sake of our friendship you’re willing take accept far fewer credits than that.”

Mae’ron Illvarion frowns into her drink but rolls the idea around in her head. There certainly many things she would do for credits, probably just as filthy as a Hutt’s business, but that was for her to know. She swallowed down the drink and set the empty on the bar in front of her. “Speaking of, I need to refuel. Prices are higher here on Nar Shaadda than on Tatooine. Hopefully this does pay off nicely.”

Kassie taps her fingertips on the bartop, as if counting while chugging down more of the drink. Then she sets it on the bar, begins picking through the leaves with her fingertips, “There’s virtually no way for it not to. Think I can hop a ride to the Tat with you? I haven’t gotten myself nice and dusty and desiccated in months.”

Lienathan Khamar: Ugh.. Tatooine. Sand, sand, Jawas, and more sand.

Mae’ron Illvarion nods in response to both her question and Lienathan’s observation. “Of course. And yes – but at least its predictable.”

Lienathan Khamar: That’s one way to put it.

Kassie shakes her head at the visored man, disagreeing vehemently. “That may be true, but you can’t beat it for exfoliating. And pod races.” She taps a finger on one side of her nose, turning so Mae can see it too.

Mae’ron Illvarion lets the side of her mouth curl up some into a smile. “Always looking on the bright-side. Someone’s got to do it.” She hefts herself up and nods to them both. “I’m going to head back to the Leaf, get some rest.”

Lienathan Khamar waves and polishes off his drink

Kassie stands too, finishing chewing the leaves in her mouth, “Yeah, I guess its time for the little guy’s lullabye. V has made it clear she’s not putting him to bed again, which, remind me to get some kind of… hand-on-a-stick to pet him with… nothing like getting felt up by a toddler.”

LtoR: Mae, Kassie, Lienathan

Mae’ron Illvarion shivers a bit at the notion of cradling what’s in the cargo hold. “Then burn it when you’re done?” She wanders out of the cantina towards the zone where her ship is docked.

Lienathan Khamar hops up off the stool and follows them out.

As the two women make the doors, Kassie can be heard to rejoin, “Maybe keep it to push your buttons…”

Hutt Hunting III

[[The character known here as Verity is the same as Zeina from previous posts

EXT- Zonama Sekot, beach near the cantina

Flint Mokeev smiles and looks at the flowers then looks up at the lady “Greetings miss”

Kassie walks up the path, holding her hand up in a wave, small smile on her mouth. “Greetings.” She stops shy of stepping on a flower, and clears out of the way of the plants, as there’s room.

Lanya Windlow turn as the shadwos show her someone new is approaching, she raises her light stick and blinks “ohh.. hello miss, how do you are?”

Kassie blows a little kiss at Lanya, blinking too at the light. “Hello again, my little friend, and Master Flint. I wonder if I might prevail upon your good natures again and ask if there’s any new information regarding my inquiry?”

Beach Meetup, Zonama Sekot

Flint Mokeev: Well, we did send out several patrols. I think one of them may have found something, I’m waiting for the report from that group. *turns to Lanya* You haven’t seen Tishia, have you Lanya, she’s to make the report.

Lanya Windlow grins “I know and I have found how many petals it was.”

Flint Mokeev adds “I think she’ll be here shortly if she’s not already here.”

Lanya Windlow puts a finger her her mouth and says “tishia was going to a village when I saw her and she has not given me more homework”

Kassie claps her hands together looking relieved and pleased at once. “How lucky. And Lanya, how many was it, was it 49?” She casts a sly look at the human before returning her gaze to the child.

Flint Mokeev asks the lady “The Hutt never contacted you?”

Kassie looks from Lnya to Flint again, “No, poor Braga remains completely incommunicado. Its a mystery. Though, isn’t this place exactly that?”

Lanya Windlow nods “yes they were 49 blue ones.. that’s a loooot. I didn’t know the necklaces had so many petals.. I never though about this, actually”

Flint Mokeev nods “Yes, there’s always something to find here”

Kassie gives Flint a long thoughtful look before she turns her head to Lanya again, and ratchets up the warmth of her smile, “What haven’t you thought about, Lanya?”

Tishia Rinai walks long the shore, leaving the mark of her steps in the wet sand behind her. She reaches the small ground and stays politely behind, not wanting to interrupt

Flint Mokeev motions for Tishia to come over “Oh here’s Tishia now, hopefully she knows something.”

Lanya Windlow chuckles, “About the number of petals in a necklace,” seeing the Ferroan coming on the back, she raises her and and wags it merrily.

Kassie doesn’t notice the woman behind her until Flint mentions her, but speaks to the little girl again, “My friend who helped you with your maths said she’d love to help you again.” She turns to greet the stranger.

Tishia Rinai walks a little close and bows politly. then she says less formaly “What would I know? The number of petals in a necklace? It’s a secret I cannot reveal… You have to compute it by yourself”

Flint Mokeev: Kassandra, this is Tishia, she works with the rangers from time to time and is a local space merchant. we trusts her with many things around here. *looks to Tishia* Tishia this is Kassandra, she’s looking about information about a possible lost Hutt who came to Zonama.

Lanya Windlow nods at Kassie and whispers “Yes, I’ll like she show me”, she talks low enough, hoping Tishia doesn’t hear someone help her with her homework.

Kassie nods her agreement with Flint, winks to Lanya, then and offers Tishia a litle wave. “Yes, I’m eager to hear if you’ve heard of a hutt or a ship crash landed somewhere around these environs.”

Tishia Rinai puts her hand on her chest and nods “Greetings Miss Kassandra”, feeling allowed to talk of her mission she adds “Well, I have no information directly on a missing Hutt here in Zonama Sekot, although, I just learnt today an ambadonned ship was spotted not so far in the forest, it’s here since recently, the villagers didn’t get too close since it’s a Yuuzhan Vong area.”

Kassie holds out her hands, clasped together, looking like she’s saying a prayer, instead she says, “Would we be able to go there? Would we need… weapons?” She looks uncomfortable with this idea even as she suggests it.

Lanya Windlow turns off her lightstick, as it’s fully day now. She watches at Tishia thoughfully, wondering who would have abandonned their ship in the forest, as it’s a little dirty for her.

Flint Mokeev looks over to the newcomer “Greetings Miss”

Verity joins her compatriot, amiable enough. “This is the same wreck mentioned before?” she questions, and makes a deferential gesture to their hosts.

Flint Mokeev shakes his head no “I don’t think so, if it was just now being reported.” then looks back to Tishia “Is it far?”

Tishia Rinai nods “I can lead you of course.. It’ll take a little time to localise exactly the location, as the description wasn’t very precise. But if you don’t mind to fly over the Jungle, we can try to find it. They said near a lake with a waterfall. at 5 hours of Kibo north west from the mouth of the river.

Kassie looks back at Verity, eyebrows aloft, asking her input.

Lanya Windlow chews her lips wondering if they have pretty flowers her. She grins to Tishia and asks “Is it far from the mountains?”

Verity considers. “Its doable, with the help of a guide. Not keen to LINGER of course. Its well worth the trek.”

Tishia Rinai shakes her head and answers friendly to the little Ferroan “it’s at the begining of the moutain region, Lanya, but it’s still the jungle. It’s not the region of your village if it was your question.”

Flint Mokeev nods “Well Tishia can be the guide, I believe she’s given others tours before.”

Kassie nods several nods at her associate and then turns to Tishia again, “The sooner, the better, I believe, lets– we’ll follow your lead.”

Tishia Rinai raises an eyebrow “Do you want to go here? It can be a bit dangerous. Especially if you meet Yuuzhan Vong without being aware of their tradition. I can guide you with my ship, indeed”

Flint Mokeev looks at the two guests “Yes, keep your wits about you. And be sure not to call a Yuuzhan Vong, just Vong. Bad things will happen.”

Kassie narrows her eyes a little, “Are these Yuuzhan Vong on some sort of a war path? I mean, we’re not looking to fight, simply to retrieve a lost cohort. I hope not to speak to any at all.”

Flint Mokeev looks over to Tishia then back at the lady “Not sure, most of the Yuuzhan Vong are peaceful enough if they aren’t provoked.”

Tishia Rinai “My ship is on the hangar yet, I suppose the Yuuzhan Vong are in peace now.. but they can be a bit touchy when they meet foreigners… ”

Kassie shrugs minutely and pulls a smile from the bottom of her bag right onto her face, optimism like morning light, “Sounds simple enough, I should thank you, Miss Tishia, I do value your time and effort.”

Verity whacks something that’s trying to feast on her through her strategically donned jacket. She tucks away her data devices with a loving little pat. She squints faintly. “Sadly, if there is a possibility it is the craft we are looking for, we can’t leave it to chance and someone else’s assessment.”

Flint Mokeev smiles “Well lets go and let Lanya get back to her homework.

Verity smiles. “I still love that bag.”

Lanya Windlow sigsh “I can finish them tomorrow, and I’m sure they have pretty flowers…”

Kassie waves at the little girl and steps along to follow the grown Ferroan.

Flint Mokeev adds “I’m interested to see what this abandoned ship is.”

Tishia Rinai turns to the Ferroan and says “It can be dangerous Lanya, if we meet some aggressive people we’ll have to protect you in more than ourselves, you know…” she turns back and walks along the shore in the other direction.

***the winding jungley path takes the party to the hangar, and the little girl follows them there***

Tishia Rinai opens the door of her ship, made of metal and bio elements. she signs to the others to enter says with a mild smile “Come in, it wouldn’t bite you”

Kassie climbs aboard the ship looking at the strange walls.

Verity waits to go last. She seems the sort to play it close to the vest– making little commentary, and looking at no point in space or any person too long, though her eyes do go most everywhere. “Thats … very reassuring.”

Kassie reaches into a pocket and produces a set of gloves, still gazing distractedly at the interior, obviously trying to understand what she’s seeing and failing.

Flint Mokeev walks over and takes a seat in the living ship, getting ready to take off.

Tishia Rinai “Maybe you’re not used with such ship, actually they are very rare, but they are very fast and we would reach the region in a short time

Kassie runs a gloved hand over the bench before sitting on it, then proceeds to stare at the more living components again, speechless.

Zonama Sekot, Flint and Kassie

Verity: “Speed is the thing. I’m sure its a very nice ship. Just as our guide is very nice. ” She pets the bench beside her, taken with the texture as they prepare to get underway.

Lanya Windlow waves at the window of the ship as the people are inside

Tishia Rinai closes press the switch to close the door, then turns the engines on. the walls of the ship blinks even more… After few dozen of minutes of flying at night… the jungle on the floor look like a uniform green map while the ship is flying very fast above of it. Time to time, we see by the window a large, 100m high colorful tree thing, which Tishia dodges with her ship
Tishia Rinai’s ship finally slow down and she says “Try to look if you see a waterfall and a lake… I’ll make circle around the region”

Verity is very appreciative of the dodging about, and the speed at which they are moving when they do. She glances across the cabin at Flint and Kassie from time to time, offering a bland smile. She then trains her eyes as instructed. “You’ll want a natural depression, to have a lake of any size and a sudden dropp-off for the falls. That should narrow things.”

Kassie nods her agreement with Verity.

Flint Mokeev looks around “Hmm, there does seem to be an abandoned ship over there.

Tishia Rinai lands near the Lake as Flint spotted something on the ground. then she opens the doors

Tishia Rinai nods and follow one of the river branch, until they reach a depression near a rocky hill “It could be here, look bellow if you don’t see a ship wreckage”

Verity debarks into the crash site, and lays her sleeve across her nose and mouth. Muffled, she says, “Fan-tastic.”
Verity: Someone’s been around. Note the… charming decoration.

Kassie follows, also gingerly covering her mouth and nose.
Kassie’s attention gets caught by a glowing plant, she walks toward it, instead of looking at the dreadful wreckage, and the thoughts it evokes.

Verity, Tishia, Kassie, Flint, Zonama Sekot

A wrecked ship is in the area, its damaged and shows trace of combat

...and Gamhorrean remains, Zonama Sekot

Flint Mokeev looks at the wreckage “Does this type of ship look familiar to any of you?

Kassie seems awakened by Flints’s voice, and comes toward him, narrowing her eyes at the ship past him. “I think it can’t be ruled out, thats for certain. Look at this debris…”

3PO Head lights up as someone got near, it buzzes and static comes from it as its speech modulator syncs “Hello, hello is someone there?”

Zonama Sekot

Tishia Rinai enters in the ship, trying to see what has happened here “It looks like it was pillaged…”

Verity bends over near the head on a pole. “Someone is indeed here. Protocol unit?” she asks, holing out a hand to grasp the pole in the soil.

Kassie actually turns to listen t the droid voice, backing her way toward the ship to peek inside.

Flint Mokeev looks over at the droid’s head.

3PO Head’s eyes lights up and he’s relieved to see humans “Oh my, I do hope you are friendly.

Tishia Rinai jumps hearing an unknown voice, and gets close of the droid head having spoke “it’s still working?”

Kassie keeps an ear peeled, multitasking, she produces a tiny camera and taking a few quick shots of the arm upon the ground, the weapon, the ship, the whole vista. Her nose is wrinkled when she stoops and sniffs the dismembered body part, even from several meters, it reeks.

Verity presses her lips together, and rubs her nose lightly with her jacket. “I’m afraid you’re stuck with us, regardless.” She hrms, toward Tishia, commenting, “Marvellous innovations. Its only efficient to have certain components able to function autonomously.”

Flint Mokeev looks the head over “Hmm, someone just stuck him on a stick.

3PO Head “Oh my I can’t turn my head. Where is Master Braga?”

Tishia Rinai “I’m not good at droid things.. but.. I think this droid has trouble…”

Kassie cuts her eyes to Verity, looking hopeful. She turns a little and mentions to Tishia, “Its alright, I think my friend there might speak their language.”

Verity helpfully turns the head on the pole. She tilts it toward the debris and the rather… grisly bits scattered hither and thither. “Thats what we’d like to know, actually. Shall I take you down, or will it compromise speech function?”What is your designation?” She asks grimly

3PO Head speaks in fluent basic “I… I.. don’t know where I am…. Oh my where’s my body, did those Yuuzhan Vong take it as well?”

Tishia Rinai looks around, sill hoping to see someone alive. Although only rest of gamorrean limbs are visible.

Verity: Where you are isn’t important. What you last remember, is. Don’t trouble about the parts. Quickly, please. The SHORT version.

Flint Mokeev looks around keeping his eyes open.

Kassie squints at the droid, there’s some pity plain on her face at its plight.

3PO Head calms down a bit “Yes, yes, I was with Master Braga translating for him when we landed on this lovely planet. We were greeted by several Yuuzhan Vong and Master Braga was happy to engage with them in trade talks. I began to translate but as the talks progressed several of the Yuuzhan Vong became aggressive and wanted Brage to hand me and the ship over to be destroyed. When he refused they attack and I’m not sure what happened after that, things were very chaotic and they were ripping me apart.”

Verity, Protocol Droid, Flint, Tishia, Kassie, Zonama Sekot

Kassie murmurs, “Good thing you haven’t been shouting for help…”

Tishia Rinai frowns, not sure such of the nature of the trade and asks “What sort of things did you try to trade, droid?”

Verity starts fiddling with the base of the head, working experimentally at loosening it. “Hutts,” she says. As though this explains everything. She gives another bitter shake and concentrates on how she is going to free the head component.

Kassie interjects lightly, “Braga was involved only in the most savory and aboveboard dealings as far as I know. I should like to add that anyway, I’m certain it wasn’t anything terrible.”

3PO Head complains a bit that he’s being shaken “Don’t make me dizzy. Master Braga was wanting to know about their famed technology. I don’t know If I translated everything correctly, their language is open to interpretation. Oh I do hope it wasn’t my fault they attacked.”

Tishia Rinai leaves her hand falling on her hips “Technologies.. hmm… Most of them are not allowed in the rest of the Galaxy… I though it was well known…”

Verity says, “Dizzy, my metal friend, is the least of your problems. You’re going to need some secondary power relays, eventually… all your circuitry is going to rust out if I can’t…”

Kassie turns aside and mentions to Master Flint, “Those look like the remains of a standard issue swine of a Hutt’s guard. I don’t think I’d like to meet what would rip one of them apart.”

3PO Head continues to ponder “Oh the maker is frowning on me. Maybe it was when I asked about slaves at the bequest of Braga that they attacked.”

Flint Mokeev looks at the remains “No not really, the Yuuzhan Vong have some pretty nasty pets though, its hard to tell who they were exactly dealing with.”
Tishia Rinai clenches her fist at his mentions “You wanted to trade slaves here?”, she however consider it would be pointless to punch the droid now

Verity gets back to the point. “Last known vector on Braga?”
Verity: “BEFORE they made you a squill-feeder.”

Kassie speaks past the slavery thing, not wanting to dwell on so minor a detail, “We can at least get this droid’s chattering head out of their area, maybe they will see we mean to be peaceful. You don’t think they could have… you know.. taken the Hutt as a prisoner? Do they take prisoners?”

Flint Mokeev nods “Some have been known to take prisoners for different reasons, as slaves or sacrifices.”

3PO Head speaks concerned “Oh my poor master, the last time I saw him, he was over by the ship with his guards”

Tishia Rinai shakes her head “I have not seen remain of the Hutt himself, just traces of combat here and in the forest”, she wages her hand vaguely toward the trees
Kassie winces, face going thoughtful thereafter, “What do they want? Do you know what they really might need or love? I hate that I’m thinking of ransoming Braga, but he is beloved by his family, and a valuable asset for my client…”

Verity: There is enough of most any Hutt, remains would be obvious. Time is of the essence, but we are not, though, exactly in the best position at the moment to make contact with ticked off,” she doesn’t call them Vong. That would be rude.

3PO Head adds “I saw them throwing some sort of bugs in Master Braga’s direction while he was moving away. Oh the master was very fast for his size, I do hope he got away.”

Tishia Rinai “Well, I don’t know…”, she turns to Flint and asks “MAybe we can try to discuss with the local Yuuzhan Vong.. although, they looked like especially angry”

Verity: Bugs?

Kassie taps her fingertip on her chin considering Verity’s words. She asks the locals, “Have you successfully spoken with them about anything peaceable before?”

Flint Mokeev nods “Yes, they can be stubborn. Maybe the Hutt got away.” and then looks to Verity “Yes the Yuuzhan Vong, use different types of bugs for weapons and other uses. Their technology is purely organic, in fact they find our technology a heresy against their gods, though most have learned to at least let others live with it.

Flint Mokeev nods to Kassie “Yes we’ve worked with several Yuuzhan Vong, some are even on friendly terms with us. But I’m not sure I know this clan that lives near here.”
Flint Mokeev adds “We even negotiated the Yuuzhan Vong to help with terraforming Ruusan a while back,.

Verity: I think… it would be wise to examine the area, for any sign that Braga is not dead. At least the direction… somethign that… er… large doesn’t go anywhere without leaving traces.

Tishia Rinai gives a look into the forest a bit worried “Haven’t you heard a noise?”

Flint Mokeev looks to Tishia “Noise?”

Kassie lets the words slip from her lips before checking her wandering thoughts, “I had no idea, I’ve only heard nasty things about them, and they were few… noise?” She steps up behind Verity.

3PO Head “Oh I do hope my powerful master is ok. I do wish to see him soon.” and then goes quiet they mention a noise, his eyes actually powering off.

Verity reaches for the pole, and gives it a hard yank.

Tishia Rinai nods “I think I heart a sort of growling, above the birds’ chirp and the other usual forest noises”

Flint Mokeev looks around “Maybe it was just your imagination.”

3PO Head ”s pole is easily pulled up.

Kassie talks to the droid, looking around, spooked. “I hope the same is true of your powerful master. You’ve done very well in helping us, I do hope you’re salvageable.”

Tishia Rinai “I’m going to check. Stay here.” She walks carefully in the forest, trying to not my noise herself and following the traces of combat

Verity is now armed by a droid stick. She likes it. Its elegant in its way. “Its a JUNGLE. Why would she imagine unpleasant fauna. C’mon. Lets look, we’ll take our friend, and get clear. We won’t go far.”
Verity raises an eyebrow. Stay here?

Tishia Rinai doesn’t answer, looking at the ground, if she can find more hint of what happened, and heading to the zone where she heard a noise

Kassie nods her agreement with Verity, “Yeah… I’ll hang back a bit. Shout iff…”

Flint Mokeev looks around a bit and follows to Tishia somewhat, but going slow as not to make too much noise.

Verity tosses droid head to Kassie. She’s not staying put.

Kassie catches the stick and says to the head, “Help me keep an eye out, I’m more talker than fighter like you.”

3PO Head “Yes Ma’am”

Verity can even hear that hint of a predator, from some yards behind. “That… sounds unpleasant.”

Flint Mokeev stops to listen.

Kassie, creeped by being alone with a head on a stick, trails a little ways after, trying to keep quiet. She let the droid/stick keep its vigil over the ship again before, sticking it back into the ground and traipsing after the others a few paces.

Verity wades into the grass cautiously, “Well. I hope one of you is prepared. Because,” she pokes the ground, “there’s a trail.”

Tishia Rinai raises some of the leaves and nods “yes, the vegetation is regrowing, but something large passed over here”

Flint Mokeev walks over to look at the trail “Yeah, it could be about anything.”

Verity takes a few tentative steps, still listening. “Can’t tell anything from here. Maybe from that stand of rocks? How about it?”

Kassie tiptoes after them, obviously nervy in the forest.

Tishia Rinai nods “Let’s see, if there is other hints the best is to find them now, I’m not fond of visiting a ship with people’s limbs another time… Has one of you a blaster?”

Flint Mokeev follows close behind and shakes his head no “Didn’t think I’d need one.”
Flint Mokeev checks to see if he brought his saber though.

Kassie runs up to the group finally, looking skittishly behind her. “No, I feel bringing that sort of thing makes the idea of a friendly conversation seem unlikely…” she halts her chatter, realizing she’s babbling from nerves.

Verity bends down, thoughtfully, wearing a grim expression. She doesn’t have one either, but shehas… oh, hey lookie, a little pokey tool, like the kind used to fix electronics! And now a stick. She stumbles along then, toward the rocks, walking quietly.

Tishia Rinai gets a small blaster out of her bag and nods “sure, but sometimes the friendly conversation can turn aggressive, it’s best to be ready”

Verity peers through the brush. And abruptly stops. She waves a hand in the air overhead, about as animated as can BE

Kassie bites her lip, wading somewhat reluctantly into the tall grass, murmuring, “I’ll keep that in mind for next time I visit.”

Flint Mokeev looks to the lady wondering what she found and walks over and peers over to the remains of a large Hutt.

Kassie catches Verity’s wild motion and follows her gaze, she ducks, right away and peers at the direction of the large orange shape.

Verity gestures toward the Jedi and blaster-toting lady, and makes a gesture like, What do you want to do?
Tishia Rinai gives a look at the black quadruped, then referring to the Hutt she says “Well, he’s dead already… ”

Flint Mokeev looks at the creature, “Maybe we can just scare the creature away.”

Kassie pulls out the camera again, amidst shaking handedness, and snaps a photo from here, in case its as good a view as she’ll get of her dead quarry, she hisses “They’re not pack animals… right?”

Flint Mokeev shrugs a bit “Never seen one before. I think it’s a Yuuzhan Vong creation though.” and he picks up a rock.

Tishia Rinai shrugs “I don’t know… I have never seen such a creature, before.. if it’s one made by the Yuuzhan Vong, they could be many.. but I think it would share its meal with its family if it was…”

Verity: “Yeah, it looks like it would be REAL intimidated by us.”

Huttlet cries and moans acute noises, hung above the rock

Flint Mokeev looks up “Oh there’s something else there.” *and tries to line the creature up in his sight with the rock*.

Kassie looks resigned when she stands from her crouch and then bends again, apparently stretching her legs, “All I’m good for is maybe luring it, I could you know, get it to run past, and you shoot–” she stops talking when she hears the sound of crying.

Verity drips sarcasm, and hefts the stick defensively. “What… ever.” she says, as yet another bug bites her. She watches the rock.

Tishia Rinai looks at her blaster “Me shouting? Well, yes.. if it’s necessary…”

Huttlet wags his little arms nervously, and keep crying, nothing which can be understood

Flint Mokeev nods “Ok, if it get passed Tishia’s blaster I’ll be ready.”
Flint Mokeev moves to the otherside of the path.

Verity fans to the left. “Keep it busy, either way…”

Tishia Rinai is not very sure of herself “I have a carbine in the ship if anybody can use it…”

Kassie moves a little forward to better glimpse the source of the cries, ascertaining from the tiny creature’s mewling that time is of the essence and that Verity is playing out the other part of the plan perfectly without having to ask her to; she then gets down like a racer at a starting line, “Here goes nothing.” She murmurs something else under her breath before she darts off. She runs first directly toward the creature then stops dead, watching to see if it plants to give chase, bouncing to a stop, muscles all tense as she gets low, ready to sprint away again.

The creature turns her attention from the hutt as it hear the noise from the woman dashing in its back. It roars and makes a few steps forward, wanting to defend its food from other predators

Tishia Rinai hides behind a tree, trying to aim the creature with her blaster. She turned it in stunning mode just before, not wanting to kill anything if she has the choice to not do it

Kassie holds up her hands, and takes a small step back, she talks to it, shakily after it roars, trying to reason with it, she’s too close, speed won’t help her now, agility perhaps… “Hey, you can keep eating the big guy, you’re probably doing the family a favor in terms of shipping but…” She darts her eyes toward the baby, then back again, “Don’t you think you’re going to make yourself sick?”

Verity looks toward Tishia as the talker of her part of their duo darts into danger. She goes wide left, making tons of noise, and muttering epithets all the way.

Flint Mokeev waits behind a tree as well, watching Tishia and any other movement.

The creature has no knowledge in the basic language, but understood the woman speech as a taunt. It walks closer, but slowly, at a distance where it can jump and bite her neck with its large jaw

Kassie backs away again, bigger steps this time, though not big enough, “Hey hey no no no need for that, have your fill. You can’t possibly be enjoying it though, indigestible, right? Besides that the poor fellow looks a bit ripe…” Her voice is thin and she doesn’t risk looking at the Ferroan, just hopes her aim is true.

Verity gets to the low rocks and scrabbles up. “Anytime, there, guys,” she mutters, eyes on the big rock ahead.

Kassie keeps her hands up, hoping to make herself look non-threatening. She keeps backing away, eyes on the eyeless creature– that seems to be all teeth, she knows she’s toast, she doesn’t have its speed.

Tishia Rinai shot a large blue circle of stunning ray, hoping it will affect the creature, even more since she took her time to aim and the creature didn’t move much

Flint Mokeev calmly waits to react if the creature wasn’t taken down.

The creature understands Kassie withdrawal as a sign of weakness, it walks froward and jumps…. while in mid air, its hit by the stunning bolt, its body becomes blue. Yet, it continue its trajectory and lands stunned against Kassie. Its large jaw releasing the Hutt entrail parts it was eating earlier.

Verity lofts off the slippery rock to grab, and cling at the other. “You want to slither this way, kid,” she grunts out. “That would be real, real helpful!”

Flint Mokeev rushes over to make sure Kassie is ok, and to check on the status of the creature.

Tishia Rinai gets ready to shot another time, not sure it was enough, although as they are close, it would touch Kassie as well

Kassie gets quite knocked to the ground by the creature and the remainder of blast jolting through its system, but its only a moment before she jerks, takes in a long ragged breath, understanding her predicament under the creature immediately, then rolls out from underneath it, and gets herself to her feet as quickly as possible again using her gloves hands to get the gore off of here where it landed, “Ew ew ew!” For a moment there her skin had paled to grey.

Flint Mokeev moves back some so Tishia can get a clear second shot, but stays close enough to try and protect Kassie if the creature moves.

Kassie is a trembling nervous mess, but she doesn’t bother getting any further from the creature, more concerned with losing any traces of its lunch on her body than her safety.

Huttlet is a young born and doesn’t understand the woman, its feared to see anybody new.It remain static, the voice of the woman was friendly and it was too hungry to flee further

Verity thrusts out an arm an and tries to find purchase with her boot, to get to where she can pluck it off the rock. “Alright youngster, alright just… oh-kay almost gotcha..” Flail, flail.

Tishia Rinai walks to the laying creature, still aiming it with her blaster. Without looking at her, she asks to Kassie aloud “Are you all right?”

Flint Mokeev watches the creature curiously for a moment then looks up to Kassie to see if she’s ok.

Huttlet keep crying, too weak to do anything else. he’s a little sick and very hungry even for a Hutt.

Kassie regains some composure and most of her color. She nods to both Flint and Tishia, and seems a little embarassed when she says, “Yes, yes… I’m alright, thanks to you. I thought I was a goner for a second there…”

Flint Mokeev nods in agreement “Yes I thought you were too.” and walks over to check on the larger Hutt “We probably should be going before the creature wakes up.”

Tishia Rinai nods, keeps looking at the creature and aiming it point blank “I was trained by the ranger”, although she didn’t confess, even to herself, it was rather a lucky shot, as she missed a big part of the training.

Verity adjusts and slings herself up. “Hush, hush,” she says, fully cognizant that it doesn’t understand a word. Blowing hair out of her eyes, and picks it up. “A little help over here! I need to get the… little darling down. Don’t squirm, don’t squirm….”

unexpected find on Zonama Sekot

Kassie reaches down as if about to pet the beast’s head, apparently having a lapse of short term memory…or judgment. She shakes her head just shy of doing so and follows after Flint, looking to see if she can spy Verity, to Tishia, she remarks, “My compliments to both you and the ranger.”

Flint Mokeev checks on the Hutt’s corpse then walks over to see how he can help with the Huttlet. “Found a little friend did you?”

Kassie pats the dead hutt on the head, then takes a quick snap of him, having seen that Verity had the huttlet in hand. “May you find your happy afterlife,” she says to the dead hutt, as if delivering last rites.

...his final resting and nesting place on Zonama Sekot

Huttlet gets grabbed by the woman, his little arms wagging smoothly and try to pull the woman’s clothes

Verity grumbles, “Don’t you people fling things around with your whatever it is you do?” Crabby, she says, “Oh, look. Just like the big ones.” She starts moving as though to slide down.

Flint Mokeev smiles “You mean use the force? No reason to when its not necessary, it may have startled him to badly. Anyways, seems like he likes you.”

Flint Mokeev adds “We better get him back to the ship though.”

Verity thumps down with her boots, and has the unplesant sensation that she is being motorboated by a huttlet. “Yeaaaaahhhh,” she says, and trundles on to meat the others. “Kassie? You alright? LUCKY. ”

Kassie can’t agree with that statement more. She’s so ready to be out of the dense forest. She starts to trek away, actually laughing.

Verity: That was some -fine- shooting.

Flint Mokeev: Come on Tishia we better go also.
Flint Mokeev watches to make sure the creature doesn’t move.

Tishia Rinai walks backward, still aiming the creature, then returns to the path, heading to the glare

Verity can be heard to murmur, “Don’t touch that… is this hereditary…” She calls, “Kassie. Get the protocol Droid’s head.”

Tishia Rinai “I hope it will not follow us…”

3PO Head’s eyes light up “Oh we are going now, wonderful. How is the Master?”

Verity: Been better…

Kassie is quick on her feet going back toward the ship, to no one in her party’s suprise, she’s sure. She takes her speed to the droid head/stick and grabs up the pole, “I am all for getting back to safer parts of this very living world, and soon.” She expounds on Verity’s explanation: “Master, well, I’m afraid he’s only alive by posterity now. But at least there’s that.”

3PO Head is silent but relieved to go with the lady, maybe he’ll be repaired.

Tishia Rinai gets her blaster back in her bag and closes it. she’s still keeps a hand on it, in case the creature would like to come here

Kassie chatters on, carrying the droid/stick, “I can’t believe there was a baby hutt stranded out there..” They head toward and onto the ship.

Verity: I don’t… even want to think about how that is possible…

Flint Mokeev “Must have been in Braga’s pouch.”

Kassie looks back to Flint once she sits, “Pouch? They carry their young in pouches?”

Flint Mokeev nods yes.
Flint Mokeev: For a few decades.

Kassie hasn’t gotten used to the idea of a living ship, but she’s far gladder to be in it, than out in the wild at the moment. “I had no idea…”

Tishia Rinai “Have you everything you want? if you are ready we can take off”

Verity has a seat on the bench, only just now beginning to deflate from the encounter. Huttlet in lap, she says, “I have NO idea what to feed you…” To Tishia, she looks surpremely grateful. “Thank you, yes. I’m sorry, this was rather more eventful than I expected… You, boss?”

Flint Mokeev looks at the Huttlett “He can probably eat anything.”

Kassie nods several times, “Oh yes, quite, the only thing I want more is change into some clean clothes.”

Tishia Rinai “We have a lot of fruits and all other sorts of meal at home”, she closes the door and turns the engine on.

Flint Mokeev: I’ll like to get some fruits also.

Verity digs in her pockets, murmuring, “Perfect;” until she can come up with a random strip of what looks like prepackaged protein. Her time during the flight is spent trying to get the young hutt to ingest it. ‘Fruit for everyone!” she says with some enthusiasm.

Kassie can’t help but stare at her huttlet holding compatriot, “We sure could stand to load up with some fresh things before we head off. There are fruits here I’d never imagined.”

Tishia Rinai lands the ship back on the platform and opens the door, allowing everyone to leave

Flint Mokeev disembarks, outpacing them all and making his way casually to the little place where the little girl has fallen asleep doing her homework. He waves hello to Lanya. “Hello we’re back”

Tishia Rinai asks to Verity “What would you want to do with the Huttlet, after having fed him?”

Kassie takes a deep breath, looking at Verity with the huttlet as they disembark. Once they’re through the familiar hangar, she remarks in Verity’s place, “Take him to his family, of course.”

Lanya Windlow rests her arms crossed on the table, her head near a holopad

Verity: Well, I’m reasonably certain it needs medical attention, as well. Its all… he’s a little sticky. I think … it’s he’s shes’… whatever its exhausted. Poor thing.

Tishia Rinai “Do you know his family well?”, she steps forward and adds “But maybe we should feed him before anything.. and wash him, also…”

Kassie clearly hadn’t considered the nuances of child-care. “Oh… of course, we should tidy the little fellow up, but, I do know precisely how to get him to his family. I have a contact on Nar Shaddaa who should make the transfer seamless.”

Zonama Sekot

Tishia Rinai considers it would be to Master Flint to decide and simply says “Well, let’s hope everything will be for the best for him.. or her”

Verity sighs as the tiny gastopod leaves a greenish yellow smear on her jacket. “Yeah. Feed and fatten, and wash it up. You’ll be just fine until we get you to… wherever, won’t you, dumpling.” Oh dear. That nearly sounded fond. In spite of teh fact the huttlet is still tugging on her jacket.

Kassie looks at Tishia, biting her lip a little bit, “That’s all I want as well. I hope you don’t think I mean to hurt the little creature. Poor dear.”

Tishia Rinai “Let’s go at the cantina, he’ll have eveything here, and you as well if you wanted to change your clothes”

Kassie whispers to Verity when the path back allows her the chance, “You think they mean to try and keep custody of your little friend there?”

Tishia Rinai I’ll get some food ready, you can find fresher clothes in the room behind if you want

Kassie takes up the offer to change her clothes and freshen up.

Lanya Windlow rubs her eyes as she walks, having followed Tishia. She keeps her datapad in her other hanging hand

Kassie reappears, dressed a bit more like a local, she pats Lanya’s head affectionately on the way to the bar.

Lanya Windlow leaves her datapad on the table and walks to the counter, dragging her feet “Let me see.. what is it?”

Verity sets him down where he can crawl around and gorge with his stubby little hands and shredding organ deep inside his maw. “Its a Hutt. Just… er, might your hands, it doesn’t seem,” a glop of something hits her in the center of her shirt, “-discriminate… Thank you, Miss– I’ve got credits to cover this, I think.”

Tishia Rinai bends over the counter and says “It’s a small Hutt, Lanya. Do you want to give him a fruit to check if it likes?”, she nods at Verity “I’m going to find you something to wrap him”

Verity thinks Hutt-take out is unlikely to catch on with other bipeds. “Its kindof cute.”

Kassie produces several credits, which she slides over the counter. She shakes her head at Verity, the money isn’t her concern. “Can you tell if its a girl or boy?”

Verity: “They’re all boys. And girls. Its complicated. I certainly didn’t see anything in the notes suggesting there were young involved in the disappearance, did you?

Lanya Windlow gets one of the cookies of the table and approach it from the huttlet’s mouth. She asks “May I?”

Verity makes sure her new grub is in Lanya’s reach. “Sure… just… its handsy, watch out.”

Tishia Rinai walks to the lobby looking for anything able to wrap the huttlet

Flint Mokeev: Do you know if Braga had any relatives that could take care of him?

Kassie considers the information about their genders, before shaking her head at Verity’s question. “Nothing about a huttling, at all. Or I would have brought diapers. Maybe they didn’t know Braga was pregnant. But… yes…” She turns to Flint, “I do know precisely where this child needs to go. I happen to know someone on friendly terms with Braga’s family.”

Lanya Windlow nods saying “It’s important to know if it’s a boy or a girl”, then she wags the cookie in front of the huttlet’s eyes, then lower it to his nose for being smelt.

Verity looks a little green as the muscular, slimy tongue swipes the child’s cookie, voracious. Deep in its neck there is a grinding sound, followed by what can only be a belch.

Tishia Rinai comes back with a couple of soft towels and unfolds them on the table “if you want to wrap him… or her…”

Flint Mokeev chuckles “Hutts are both girls and boys, they decide if they want to show masculine or feminine traits. I think some Hutts have even changed how they portray themselves over their lifetime.”

Kassie: …thats a neat trick, truly.

Flint Mokeev ponders a bit then adds “But since this one was with Braga it should probably show boyish traits.”

Verity gratefully puts the child down to eat, and looks to Tishia with deep gratitude. “Thank you– wow Look at him go.”

Lanya Windlow giggles as the hutt is eating the cookie. she removes her little hand just in time for not being eaten. Then she raises her head, to Verity, asking “Another?”

Kassie watches Lanya dangling cookies and feeding the hutt that Verity holds. “Master Flint, I hope you’ll allow us to take the hapless creature home. I know I don’t look like family, but I’m certainly no threat.”

...on Zonama Sekot: Flint, Verity, huttling, Lanya, and Kassie

Lanya Windlow shakes her head “but he can stay here.. or she, they could sleep in a little bed with me”

Flint Mokeev: He probably needs to see his clan, Lanya to make sure he’s healthy.

Lanya Windlow “I know, but. he’s so cute and I love babies so much, and we can send them a hologram, maybe?”

Flint Mokeev: Maybe he can come back and visit and play when it’s determined he is healthy.

Kassie pets Lanya’s head, again, affectionately, “Aw, yes, I’ll tell his family that I know a wonderful girl he can play with here. A girl who figured out how many petals in a necklace…”

Lanya Windlow chuckles “Yes, and I can help them to make their homework also, I’m sure they have a great family and we can play together and have a lot of fun, even if she’s not very talking a lot”

Tishia Rinai “I’ll like to know also what is going to happen to the huttlet, also if you all want to do something about the wreckage of the remains of Braga… ”

Kassie lifts her brows as she considers these points, then nods agreeably as she speaks, “Yes, of course. I’ll have to speak to the clan about sending someone to dispose of the wreckage and return the body home, unfortunately, I should go and deliver this news personally, rather than sending a message. I am afraid I should probably get my friend to take us off the world pretty soon…”

Lanya Windlow still keeps hope to be able to keep the small Hutt “yes, but if they come later, maybe the baby could stay here, just a little time”

Kassie: Lanya, my sweet, imagine if you lost someone in your family, but had a new baby to meet that belonged to them? Wouldn’t you want to have all your family together in one place if you could after a thing like that? That poor little fellow’s mum won’t ever come home again, you know?

Lanya Windlow insists a bit “yes, but they can come here too? I’m sure they will love to be in Zonama Sekot, it’s a very pretty planet” she stops talking a moment and adds “but, it’s true he has no more his mummy? That’s so sad, she stares at the huttlet’s eyes, while her hand brings a fruit in front of his mouth.

Kassie: No, he has no more mummy, but we can let him be with his uncles and aunts. It shan’t be too bad. I know that I’d like to come back again and take you up on your offer to go fishing. That could be quite nice.” She watches the insatiable huttlet slurp the fruit out of Lanya’s hand.

Tishia Rinai “Lanya, I’m sure you’ll see him again, and his family will be touched by your attention”

Lanya Windlow “I know, but I could like to know quick if it’s a he or a she? And what name has the baby? It’s very important. I hope he likes flowers too…”, she giggles and adds “and not only as food”

Zonama Sekot Cantina: Kassie and Lanya

Kassie smiles at the persistent and compassionate little girl, “I don’t believe our little friend has a name yet, it should fall to his family to tell us what to call him or her, don’t you think? And once the huttlett has a name and can talk, we will know if he wants to be a he or she… But we can be sure… that he will like eating flowers…” She laughs a little bit too.

Tishia Rinai “I’m sure we’ll know it.”, she turns to Kassie and asks “to who are you wanting to trust him, exactly?”

Kassie looks to Tishia and speaks without hesitation, the first thing to come to mind, not checking her own statement for truth, just blurting the safest place she can think on the spot: “The Jiramma clan headquarters on Nar Shaddaa, was where I thought I’d start. I’ll have to be careful, of course, as unfortunately there have been attempts on the family in recent history there.”

Tishia Rinai “yes, I’ve heart of recent attack against the Hutt.. I hope he’ll be safe there however.. the familiy can always trust us, I suppose.. if they wanted another environment.. We even have swamps here, I know the Hutt like them.”

Kassie tilts her head to one side, seeming to tuck that tidbit of information away in a special place. “One can never have too many safe-havens. I’m certain your help in securing the huttlet will mean wonderful diplomatic and trading activities with them in the future, they have long memories and do not forget friends…”
Lanya Windlow smiles brightly and puts her face in front of the hutt “I am your friend, I’m Lanya”, she raises her hand to the table and bring back a cookie to feed the huttlet

Kassie grins as Verity shifts the hungry little creature to better swipe the treat from Lanya, his appetite epic already. He sticks out his tongue again and licks at Lanya’s hand.

Lanya Windlow keeps smiling at the huttling and says “I will get a cookie for myself, but I will go to sleep because I have worked very late”

Kassie once again pats Lanya’s head, “If I ever make it back to Zonama, Lanya, I will come looking for you to take me fishing…”

Lanya Windlow puts a hand on her mouth to prevent a yawn “Oh yes, I will, we can fish fishes for the baby Hutt, I ‘m very very sure he likes fishes”. She stops glancing at the huttlet and looks at Kassie.

Kassie gets up from her stool, ready to leave too. “I think we’ve got him a nice bellyful for now. I left my contact information with you before, Master Flint, if you need to refer anyone to me, please do. For now, though, I do believe our business here is concluded. Would you give Salene our regards?”

Tishia Rinai grins to the girl “I can even bring to the huttlet family a package of your fishes, Lanya”

Kassie chitchats with Tishia and Flint briefly as the fishes and fruits to take away are gathered then takes them, and Verity and Lanya make their goodbyes before the two women make their way quickly back to the Soaring Leaf, talking arrangements for their unexpected charge.
